This project began with a comprehensive landscape design developed in coordination with a full renovation of the original lakeside cottage. Conducted over multiple years, the installation included a series of site-specific features aimed at improving functionality, durability and long-term enjoyment of the shoreline.
An 80-foot Panton stone retaining wall was constructed along the lake edge to stabilize the bank and mitigate erosion. Integrated into the wall are dry-laid stone seat walls, a terraced thyme patio, bluestone staircases, and plantings designed to further reinforce the sloping bank.
Upland from the water’s edge, a front entryway, dining patio, built-in grilling area, and stone-edged kitchen garden were crafted to support three seasons of outdoor living. Plantings were selected for their adaptability and structure. The perennial borders and foundation beds were designed to visually connect the residence to the surrounding landscape.
